What is Ayurveda?Ayurveda is the world's oldest known medical science, which originated in India over 5,000 years ago. Ayurveda describes the natural make-up of the world and the living beings within it. It explains how each individual is a unique composition of physical and mental elements. It then specifies the practices necessary for people to keep themselves in harmony internally and with their environment.
Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my session?
It helps to be well hydrated, so be sure to drink plenty of fluids the day before and day of your treatment.
You should not drink alcohol or use illegal drugs prior to your treatment. These will adversely affect the outcome of your session.
You don't want to be starving, but you might be uncomfortable during your session if you're stuffed. Allowing at least two hour between eating and receiving a treatment is recommended.
Don't wear makeup, excessive perfume, and jewelry.
If you wear contact lenses, you will not want to wear these during your session since they will become dry and possibly might hurt you.
Please schedule the session so you are not disturbed by any work during the time period of the treatment and will have an hour to gather yourself after the session.
Please turn off the mobile phone during the session.
How do I set up for an In-Home Service?
Easy as pie, here are 3 quick tips!
1. Pick a space that is somewhat quiet and/or private if possible.
2. Make sure your practitioner has a space to step out before the start of the session and afterwards, like a hallway or restroom. (Having a sink in this area is ideal.)
3. Close or dim the blinds and lights so that the area is tranquil and you can rest.
Voila, your spa is home. Enjoy!
Do I have to fill out any forms? What information do I have to provide?
You will be asked to fill out a Client Intake Form and a quick survey. The Client Intake Form is where you record any medical history, past/present injuries and other physical conditions the practitioner should be made aware of. This health history will help you and your practitioner to determine the best techniques or modality to use for you.
This is the perfect time to discuss any questions and concerns that you may have such as the kind of oil to be used, etc.
If you would the practitioner to give extra attention/ time on a specific part of the body it's perfectly fine to ask.
The information you provide, both verbally and in written form, will be maintained in strict confidentiality.
Where will my treatment session take place?
Ayurveda Spa is a traveling spa service that sends practitioners to your residence, office, or hotel. Instead of losing your spa experience when driving back home, why not have the spa come to you? We exceed your expectations!
Must I be completely undress?
Most treatments are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort. You will be draped/ covered with a massage towel or top sheet throughout your session. This is your treatment and you should be as comfortable as possible.
Can I talk during my session?
Sure, if you'd like to talk you can.
The important thing to remember is that this treatment is all about you relaxing and enjoying the experience.
Your practitioner will ask you to alert them if, at any time during the session, a technique or stroke they are using is uncomfortable. Also, let him/her know if you get too warm or too cold, if the room is too bright, or if the pressure needs to be changed (lighter or deeper). If something is not working for you - you should let your practitioner know immediately. The communication between you and the practitioner is very important.
What materials will be used?
The materials that are used based on the treatment(s) that you are receiving. Oils are made Warm, this increases the penetrating quality that helps the body absorb the substances infused into the oil for health purposes. They are applied in many Ayurvedic therapies and can also used for self-massage as a part of a daily routine for self-healing.
Normally, the following items are used:
Abhyanga: Organic cold-pressed Sesame or Safflower oil (Main oil), Ayurvedic Organic Bhringraj oil, castor oil, neem oil, lemon or lime, salt, rose water, cotton eye pads

In addition to this, we will also bring linens, water-proof sheets, towels, candles, and music.
It is important that you let your practitioner know if you are allergic to nuts or any other substances.
What should I do during the session?
Make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during their session. Feel free to ask questions about treatment in general or about the particular technique you are receiving.
What type of music do I have to listen during my treatment?
Your therapists will play slower, quieter, relaxing type music; you can choose to have different music or no music at all.
Studies have shown that music at fewer than 60 beats-per-minute has a calming, relaxing effect on the body and therefore can enhance your experience.
How will I feel after the session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. A few have reported that they feel totally rejuvenated. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days or even weeks.
After your session you should increase your water intake a bit. Just a glass or two more than normal is usually fine. This helps keep your body's tissues hydrated and healthy.
How many Ayurvedic treatment sessions will I need?
Honestly, it’s hard to say. Every person is unique and every condition is unique to each person.
It may take one session or it may take several. You and your practitioner will be able to talk more specifically about this after your first session.
To promote good health we recommend having a session every 2 weeks, but it also depends on how you feel.
However, if you are looking to address a specific condition, then it is recommended to have them more frequently at first and then slowly taper down to a maintenance schedule. Sometimes more frequent sessions can be effective until your goals are met and a maintenance schedule is in place.
Frequency of sessions should be discussed with your practitioner after your treatment.

The treatments should be avoided if you are sick or have any serious skin diseases.
